Objective

To inform the buyers in the purchasing centers of hypermarkets about the new product and to seek orders. It is difficult to arrange an appointment with the buyers without being interrupted by a telephone call, an assistant or a secretary. It is virtually impossible to set up a meeting room at the  customers location to present a product.

Strategy

Mars decided to organize a road show to bring mars representatives and the buyers together.


Implementation

The road show was organized on board Diamondspace I. This vehicle which can accommodate a maximum of six people, is often used as a place for negotiation and presentation.  A multimedia presentation was created to showcase the new product. Thanks to its unique design, its finish, its equipment, and its external and internal decoration, Diamondspace I conveyed the company image and the new product perfectly. Diamondspace I was selected for the space and the facilities that it provides, approximately 20 m2, and the standard equipment it includes (air conditioning, heating, 3 ISDN power points, 6 interior loud-speakers, bar, 220/380 V electrical connection, possibility of attaching a generator, etc.).


Results

All potential customers were able to be visited when and where they chose. They were received by Mars representatives in a Mars presentation and negotiation environment, decorated to reflect the new product, away from their usual environment (telephone, secretary, assistant, etc.). Buyers are more attentive and can be fully informed of the advantages of the new product. The negotiations begin immediately after the presentation, in a totally Mars environment. The positive repercussions of the campaign are felt both during and immediately after the road show. The outstanding success of the product launch in Germany has prompted Mars to adopt this road show strategy globally.



Sample Itinerary

6.00 a.m.: Departure from the hotel on board Diamondspace I.

7.00 a.m.: Arrival at the first potential customer. The vehicle is set up, the slide show is checked to make sure it is working properly and the generator is started up. The hostess prepares coffee and tea.

8.15 a.m.: The Mars representatives arrive.

8.30 a.m.: The representatives contact the buyers.

8.45 a.m.: The hostess welcomes the buyers. She offers them a drink and a croissant.

9.00 a.m.: The hostess leaves the vehicle. The Mars representatives begin their multimedia presentation. At the end of the presentation, the negotiations between the parties begin.

10.00 a.m.: The representatives accompany the buyers back to their offices.

10.15 a.m.: The representatives hold a debriefing session on the meeting.

10.30 a.m.: Dismantling procedure.

11.15 a.m.: Departure for another destination.

1.00 p.m.: Arrival at the second potential customer. The vehicle is set up, the slide show is checked to make sure it is working properly and the generator is started up. The hostess prepares coffee and tea

2.00 p.m.: The Mars representatives arrive.

2.30 p.m.: The representatives contact the buyers.

2.45 p.m.: The hostess welcomes the buyers. She offers them a drink and a cake or pastry.

3.00 p.m.: The hostess leaves the vehicle. The Mars representatives begin their multimedia presentation. At the end of the presentation, the negotiations between the parties begin.

4.00 p.m.: The representatives accompany the buyers back to their offices.

4.15 p.m.: The representatives hold a debriefing session on the meeting.

6.30 p.m.: Dismantling procedure.

5.15 p.m.: Transfer to the city of the next stage.

8.00 p.m.: Arrival at the hotel
